Well written exploration of a young woman living in a violent, repressed, oppressed community. Burns sets out in stultifying detail the social constraints that dictate every aspect of personal and community in Catholic Belfast duting the troubles. The narrative such as it is glacial which detracts from some of the enjoyment if this book.
