Modern Chinese is an incredibly thoughtful cookbook. Sam’s introduction, exploring Chinese cooking through a diasporic and Queer lens, is truly moving. His personal, political, and generous approach sets the perfect tone for diving into the recipes, making me more excited to get cooking.
I’ve tried several dishes so far. They were delicious and the book was nice talking point at the dinner table. Surprisingly easy to follow, the recipes demystified dishes I hadn’t dared to try before.
Looking forward to cooking my way through this book over the summer and eagerly anticipating the moves Sam makes. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for flavourful recipes made with love, passion, and style.
