Netflix clearly did not do their research before producing this series. First, The dog is an Emotional Support Dog (ESA). ESA's do not have public access rights, they are only permitted in pet-friendly places, airplanes, and non-pet friendly housing. Showing the dog in places such as cafes and school gives viewers a false sense of knowledge about service animals. As shown in the very beginning of the first episode, the dog "Dude" was rowdy and failed out of service dog training, there is a reason for that, service dogs are held to high standards, they shouldn't bark or be wild, they should walk right at their handlers side, and they need to be trained a specific task to help their handler. In episode 1 dude says, "I have no idea what I'm doing" a legitimate service dog knows their task. Also Netflix really tried to make every aspect of this show comedic, which would be good if they weren't dealing with such a serious topic. This show definitely had potential to be good but Netflix chose to not research the important topics that would be brought up in the show. When displaying a child breaking US Federal law there needs to be more thought put into it, otherwise you get situations where real students are trying to bring their dogs to school which can in turn endanger both a service dog and their handler.
