This show is entertaining. It does make some bold and relevant points, and it sheds light on taboo subjects most people in the Muslim community refuse to talk about. This is what I love about this show and I've seen all 3 seasons.
My biggest issue with this show is believability, however. As an arab muslim who grew up in NA, I can somewhat relate and get where the show is coming from. However, most of the scenarios that occur feel almost random. Or a better word might be extremely convenient. Plot points clearly just forced by the writers to make some sort of "bold" statement about a religion or a societal problem. The things that happen to characters in this show just don't make sense. The situations Ramy runs into are simply not believable. For example every woman seems to want to hook up with Ramy, who is a careerless failure, is childish and is not very attractive (including a married Muslim women going to mosque? Laughable scenario).
The entire character of Ramy is not believable - he is absolutely unlikable after season 1 and almost everything he does is so immature and lacks even a sense of judgement. This has nothing to do with being a bad Muslim. He is incompetent, and behaves like a 5 year old. His parents are depicted as straight edge and educated, both Ramy and Dina are not believable results of that household imo ( especially in the leaps taken in S3).
By S3, I seriously grew to dislike Ramy, Dina and Naseem. These are main characters. They became borderline irredeemable and this takes me out of the show. I understand they are building up to redemption arcs but they're beyond saving imo.
I have a lot more to say, but I give it 3 stars for the fun scenarios, the comedy and the exposure it does for arab Muslims in NA (as they do show good, honest, muslim citizens in side characters). However, it always leaves a bad taste in my mouth in some shape or form after every season. I found myself saying "no way" in nearly every episode and that's not a good thing.
