I liked the book, despite being very long. Just when I thought the book might come to an end, it took another twist. I like a long book….I sometimes feel sad when I finish a good book, because it’s not long enough.
I like Sallie Kincaid. She is a smart, independent woman, with sharp one liners and a cunning wit despite her young age. The reader forgets she’s only 18-20 years old during most of the book.
I also like Sallie’s attitude toward marriage
(she’s mostly not interested) and sex (makes sure her partner uses “precautions” so as not to become” one of those women who winds up in a family way”) So many stories I read depict the women as not ever thinking they might get pregnant. They have sex with a man, and a few pages later, there is a pregnancy. I find her attitude refreshing and realistic.
I liked the book, but if you aren’t a fan of a very long story, this might not be for you.
