I can't imagine there was actually a time that women were convinced this movie was made for them. The whole idea of this movie is that the more you allow yourself to be objectified and dominated by men and male opinions, the more happy and loved you’ll be, but it's okay to wear glasses. It’s sad that sexism is still playing such a large role in our society. I remember watching this movie when I was a little girl with my mom and thinking that Anna Farris' character was really lucky for getting to live in that big mansion and believing that she was helping those girls by shaming them for "not being sexy..." I am sad that even in 2008 sexism was still a huge problem. Even now in 2024, i am terrified for my newborn daughter to grow up in a world that is so dangerous and scary to be a female in. I can only hope that things get better in the future.

I don't like that it was written by a man, or that the movie initially depicts the female characters as weak and incapable, but I do like what the movie stands for in terms of female empowerment. Overall, if you like movies with a semi-bad plot and an almost noble cause, you've come to the right place.

This movie is unfairly biased against people who suffer from mental illness.

I started watching the show in my desperate search for gay characters, but was disappointed in the lack there of...otherwise, it's pretty good.
