Steven Vale

An entertaining but somewhat silly film that I still, surprisingly, found mostly enjoyable with the occasional good laugh in between. The plot was thin and the acting average (excluding the 2 main characters Sandler and Aniston who have a natural onscreen chemistry and portrayed the married detectives really well.) In my opinion the real winner of the film was the exquisite locations and costume design. The colour's and scenery will long live in my mind as my negative opinions of the film fade over time. I don't regret the 90 odd minutes I spent watching this film. Could I watch it again in a year, probably not.

How it Ends... Not soon enough! For a film with a star such as Forrest Whitaker to start well, quickly fizzle out and end with barely a whimper is really disappointing. It essentially comes down to 3/2 people taking a trip across the states to rescue a fiance/ daughter from a end of days event. There is lots of meaningless dialog, blasphemy and swearing and I often found myself bored watching this. If you are looking for better apocalyptic films rather watch Armageddon, 2012, Deep Impact, The Day after tomorrow or War of the World's. They all feature Hollywood stars, have a decent script and are continually riveting to watch.
