This could have been incredible but instead we get a reimagining that is tonally confused. Has a throwback style but also wants to tackle modern themes. It feels like a terrible mishmash of the 1966 show and 'The Animated Series'.
Batman's voice threw me off though so hard. Seriously did the actor miss the distinction between stoic and robotic? He shines as Bruce Wayne when in public but the moment the character of Bruce Wayne isn't around someone (outside Alfred) he goes back to the robotic delivery he gives as Batman. The lack of difference between the two personas is truly an astonishing flaw.
The villains here don't fair much better w/ tolerable but ultimately forgettable performances. Christina Ricci as Selina Kyle (Catwoman) was the only standout worth 50¢ of a damn.
Everything in the show feels rushed, anticlimactic and as if it is merely playing the "hits" that they feel is obligatory for 'Batman' media. Episodes are often forgettable and lack any strong direction.
