Great stories and memoirs poorly delivered by terrible execution. I don't understand, Band of Brothers and The Pacific were amazing. How can it degrade to this? Some overly dramatic scenes were coming off as trying too hard. For 2024, effects and usage of CGI were just awful. Memphis Belle, made in 1990, did a drastically better job in that category in my opinion.
The bread and butter IS in the realism of the experiences these men went through. It feels like watching another action/drama film and IT SHOULDN'T. It is way more special than that. In regards, I believe much to blame is on the delivery of "too much too quick." So much crunched into 9 episodes, with huge gaps jumping from one scenario to the next. Literally felt, one minute the Allies were conducting pre D-Day operations then the next we learn Russia is at the gates of Berlin as POWs? There just wasn't enough time to immersive yourself with these memorable figures.
I am just overly disappointed, I firmly anticipated the release ever since I heard it was coming on the horizon. Maybe I had too high of standards. Afterall and unfortunately, many of these men are no longer around and its impossible to get those first hand accounts. Just the memoirs they leave behind from books and stories.
