Not sure why there are negative reviews on this film, maybe it was bad timing on the release date where everyone was in a bad mood lol. I think it might be one of my favorite movies! If I had to take one thing negative about it, it would be the court/trial scene. That might be where the "lazy writing" comments are coming from. Other than that, everything else before and after that part was excellent.
