Loved every minute, especially the soundtrack! I was a teen in the 90s, so the music significantly stood out. I’m not into the Transformers franchise, but this was great. From beginning to end, the fantasy, action, and good be evil aspect holds your attention.

I like Danielle Deadwyler. It’s been amazing to see her growth as an actress. I remember her in Tyler Perry’s the Haves and the Have Nots. Her acting in this movie was solid. However, this movie sucked. The plot and storyline was completely discombobulated and weak. Appalachian life, a weird cult, and a far fetched, ridiculous vendetta over a tree.

No originality. This was the Black, low budget version of Sleeping With the Enemy! It was decent, but you’d think they would at least change it up a bit. There were a few differences, but it was essentially the same movie. The acting was better than I anticipated though. ✊🏽

I enjoyed the movie for the most part, but I can totally understand the less than stellar reviews. Like others, we’ve been waiting for this movie. I left the theater feeling satisfied, yet disappointed. I agree with my husband when he said that he felt like DeNiro and DiCapprio had been miscast and did not put forth their best efforts. It was longer than necessary. I wish Scorsese would have explored the Tulsa riots with more than just a few, quick clips. The radio show detailing everyone’s fate at the end was creative. Overall, I’d suggest waiting for this to stream. It’s not worth a theater outing.
