I can honestly say I don't fully understand why so many people are disappointed with or downright hate the alpha launch of this game. I remember 3 years ago when this game was first announced and I was so excited to finally play it. I practically counted down the days till it's release. When it beta launched in 2022 I downloaded it the day of and started the grind. I loved it just as much as I had imagined I would, but even still I started noticing issues with it very early on. The game definitely felt like a beta. Characters had horrendous hitboxes and it would get so bad that I had to leave the game cause I was losing to moves that just didn't make sense. Anyway it was disappointing for me since I really cared about the game and wanted it to succeed. Unfortunately I couldn't take the state of the game and stopped playing for a long time. Next thing I know the game was taken down and promised to re-release in early 2024. When the alpha launched on May 28th this year I played it all day, and I can truthfully say that I enjoyed every second of it. The game felt polished and more like a platform fighter. And yes there were many characters completely busted. But this didn't bother me at all. I'm a Stripe main and I played him consistently the whole first day. I wouldn't consider Stripe an over powered character in the least and I'm sure most would agree with me. My point is that I spent most of the first day playing a mid character against mostly busted characters like WW, Gizmo and Harley, and I had no issues or complaints. Not only that but I had A LOT of fun playing against all of them. I do not deny the bugs and disconnecting servers which was very prevalent the first week. But for me it never ruined how fun the game was. I can say truthfully the game is genuine fun. I do agree the characters are way too expensive and personally I think all the characters should just be available for everyone with no paywall for any character. And make more cosmetics and emotes that can be purchased with in game currency. But even with that said none of those points have made me less interested in the game. The devs are actively updating and making notable changes each week, and actually listening to community feedback. I honestly believe that the people at Player First Games really do care about the player base and want to make a game that is fun and rewarding for everyone. With that said I know it's not gonna be for everyone, but I don't think the game deserves all the hate it's receiving.
