What started as funny, relatable, Ron Swanson-esque wit quickly became cliche with a ridiculous plot. This could’ve been so much more, and it was, for like 15 minutes at the start… And Garfield’s dad being absent but stalking him his whole life is cringe. I hate the plot line “he went and watched you eat dinner every Sunday night” and “he was always there you just didn’t see” “dad watched me grow up from the window” sounds like every bs absent father line. This was pushed so hard. Maybe the screenwriter is an absent father or something

I haven’t read the book, but I thought the movie was really good. Didn’t expect that ending.
