Big swing and a miss! One could argue the current political climate for another civil war in this country is plausible. It wouldn’t be a far fetched story. Great, the plot can pretty much write itself with ease. So… liberal California and conservative Texas team up to overthrow the government? Ok… and we are not going to shoot this movie through the eyes of the opposing “ tug of war” political views. We will follow some hodge podge group of photo journalists whose mission throughout the movie is to stroll up to the president and capture his overthrow. OK… Lots of point A to point B driving with no action. Final climax in D.C. looks like a plastic model town and right when the naive, annoying Jessie is ready to be shot (yay!) the only character ( Dunst) with any kind of depth, sacrifices herself to save her (booooo!) The soundtrack is horrendously unfitting. Very little character back stories. Did not come close to grabbing me. Hard pass! But maybe I’m missing something while the hobby photography crowd is laughing at my lack of complexity.
