The film released on Netflix today and I decided to catch this film.
I was a huge fan of the 2005 classic and this is an honest review.
With all due respect to the director for his past works (Chandramukhi, Mannan and many more), P.Vasu has successfully made a fool of himself and the work that went into the first Chandramukhi.
Please take note that P.Vasu has single handedly churned out sequels of Chandramukhi in various languages. Nagavalli to name one. And none of it worked. It seems that he has lost his creativity and ideas in the long run dealing with Chandramukhi,Vettaiyan,Nagavalli and the awful snake.
The story is all over the place and we see familiar characters like Murugesan (Vadivelu) but even the comedies attempted were half-baked and pretty much misses the mark every time. Raghava Lawrence tries his best to entertain however due to his history with all forms of ghost, you pretty much expect his reactions before the scene happens.
The rest of the film sums up the stupidity and the theatrics which honestly disappoints. MM Keeravani's music does not do much to salvage this. The fact that they even changed the original Chandramukhi painting with a new one of Kangana Ranaut makes you wonder if you would want to watch the original immediately to salvage the memories you had watching the first one.
To sum this all up, the only watchable moments of the entire catastrophe is the little snippets of the recap where they show the original film scenes and half of Rajinikanths face when he goes down the alley.
