Okay, first of all - ignore the reviews yelling about how 'this is a propaganda movie against D & D!" Well, of COURSE it is! It was made it 1982! Anyone around that time has fun rolling their eyes at how we were told that this was a tool of the devil and we were going to start eating babies! There was a culture clash. But guess what?! Nerd culture won! LOTR made a trillion dollars and there are more Star Wars movies than there are constitutional amendments. Relax - only wacked out crazies think Dungeons and Dragons is harmful. Yes, the movie is hinting at the dangers, but in such a silly way it is hard to take seriously. View it as a time capsule of how silly people were. Okay - that being said - Watch this for Tom Hanks and some awesome nostalgia. It is actually a fun watch if you know what you are getting from the start.
