Poor. Sally Hawkins as Mrs Brown was very much missed. The film is slow, convoluted and frankly boring at times. The children in the cinema got fidgety and just wanted the film to end. A waste of nearly two hours

It’s bright, it’s colourful, it’s packed with big names but it just doesn’t work. The lead actor playing Wonka has no charisma and is as wooden as the scenery. The songs quickly become repetitive and annoying and the frequent periods of dialogue are boring. Apart from Rowan Atkinson and Olivia Coleman the actors are wasted. Nearly 2 hours of my life I’ll never get back. Shame, it could have been so much better
