I really wanted to read this book. The reader, Whoopi’s Goldberg, ruined it for me. Her voice is gravelly and unpleasant. Also her opinions on “The View” are biased, close minded and obnoxious. I cannot listen to a mediocre book with a bad choice of reader. I’ll read it the old way

Throughly enjoyed this book until until Berry grossly misrepresented the tenants of Christ’s Church to present his own world view. The Blessed Virgin would NEVER condone extramarital sex, suicide, abortion or homosexuality! Another not so subtle anti Catholic attempt. When writing an historical novel stick to the truth . If strictly fiction it would be more believable to weave the story around fact not distortion,
