Fracking, C4 News 05 April. If I were an Oscars guest I would be tearing my hair out. Once again, C4 News is lazily assuming that the worst thing that can happen wth fracking is a few more tiny earth tremors. It isn't! That is so absurd, but it is all they want us to think about and laugh it off. Methane emissions are of critical importance, as methane is a greenhouse gas many more times more potent than carbon dioxide, it is reaching critical levels and drilling operations and household seepage of 'natural gas' produce vast amounts. Worse, over 2 thousand peer-reviewed research studies in the USA have shown that fracking is a major public health hazard, its emissions locally causing raised levels of cancers, birth defects and respiratory diseases including asthma, with a potentuially huge cost to the NHS. Why the Britih media never report these things is, to my mind, simply laziness, but it is likely to get a lot of people killed.
