This is a story about family expectations and second generation immigrant dynamics, wrapped in a "Kill Bill-esque" delivery; peppered with plenty of food references (if you know, you know).
It is stylish violence at its best; though perhaps not to be consumed if you are binging this at dinner time. It will strike a cord with those who grew up with comfort foods and bilingual homes.
Great casting of breakthrough Taiwanese-American stars, led by the inimitable Michelle Yeow (who is of course Malaysian). This show is gonna put Taipei on the map for the summer holidays!
