Douglas and Turner have good screen chemistry but the story is staged to afford the viewer busy ‘action’ scenes that have no real significance to good story-telling. An exotic location and original characters from Romancing the Stone can’t save a plot that feels like its moving and mercilessly ending when it does. The rugged elements of adventure, far away destinations, corny humor and on again off again Douglass and Turner leaves the viewer feeling as though this thing is finally coming to a close then it doesn’t. Too bad really. This has all the marks of “if only”. Still for those who loved the first one it’s one more chance to see these characters have some screen time before retiring from film history. I gave it two stars for the actors and adventurous flavor despite failing to deliver any satisfaction to the viewer. Oh well. Not bad for a Saturday afternoon flick.
