I went and watched this in theater with my mother-in-law and 18 year old son. I, and my MIL, really enjoyed the comedy, story, and visuals of the movie. My son, on the other hand, felt that a few dolls had little to no redeeming qualities.
I can understand why some people are hurt, angry, and offended by this movie. It pokes fun and somewhat takes serious a few issues that people have struggled through in the past, present, but hopefully not the future. To truly enjoy this movie, you need to go in it with an open mind to see and understand the views of all parties in the film.
Remember that ALL dolls are stereotyped and that everyone, from mothers, daughters, sons, spouses, husband's, SO's, and even friends will each take away a different understand of the message of the movie and that is OK!
Have a kick-butt day! You deserve it :)
