The film is about a real-life story of the Japanese attack on the American naval base of Pearl Harbor, located near Hawaii. This twenty-three-year-old action film was directed by Micheal Bay and John Schwartzman and earned approximately $450.2 million worldwide. The plot concerns a love story between two childhood friends from Tennessee named Rafe McCalwey played by Ben Affleck and Danny Walker played by Josh Harnett with the charming nurse named Evelyn Johnson played by Kate Beckinsale. Although this plot is quite romantic and standard it also focuses on the Pearl Harbor attack which is a very creative story because it’s the first time that there was a public movie about this slaughter. The story didn’t really explain the historical reality because the only reason why Japan attacked the US navy was because the USA had cut off its oil supply and didn’t evoke the imperialistic idea. But a good point is that the film shows us three different central events of WWII. On the contrary, the theme song is powerful thanks to the amazing job of the most famous film composer Hans Zimmer which was praised by an Academy Award. I also enjoyed the visual effects while a few of them are outdated. The actors’ performances were weak, mainly unconvincing for the Japanese characters because of the weakness of their replies during the scenes where the Japanese high command debates. And I feel disappointed that the Japanese only play a little role in their own raid. Overall, I recommend you watch this film if you have never heard about the Pearl Harbor attack or about WWII or if you have plenty of time to spare although this film was a box-office hit.

Will Hunting Will Hunting is an American film released in 1997. This film was produced by Gus Van Sant. I will give my opinion on this film in this review. Plot Will Hunting is a young poor boy who lives in south Boston, he has no family and spends most of his time drinking with his friends. One day, while working as a cleaner in MIT, Professor Lambeau discovers he is a maths genius. After a gang fight, Will Hunting avoids prison if he stays under Lambeau’s supervision. Will Hunting is rude and ignores Lambeau most of the time, this is why he meets a pyschologist, Sean. Will and Sean understand each other very well. Sean teaches life to Will and Will finally gets a good paid job and manages to get off the streets. My opinion I think Will’s development throughout the film is very inspiring. All the different characters are credible and are played very well. The only negative point is the fact that Will and his friends are represented like cliché gangsters. Conclusion In conclusion I would recommend this movie because the story is inspiring and the actors act very well.

Dead Poets Society is a movie shot by Peter Weir in 1989 with a script made by Tom Schulman. In its cast crew we have Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard and Ethan Hawke. The story of the movie is happening in a school and this movie is a comedy and a drama. This movie has won many awards such as the Oscars. This movie narrated the story of an English teacher named John Keating which has an unique perspective of knowledge. He wants his students to see knowledge, more precisely poetry, with another angle which for him brings sentiments. Another focus of this movie is that the students are secretly regrouping to talk about poetry and philosophy like John Keating when he was a student. While the movie is old, it isn’t outdated by today's standards, the photography is decent and the setting is pretty realistic. The best point of this movie comes to the acting and the eccentric acting of the main character which is really interesting. Apart from that the plot is particular you might feel excited or bored depending on your tastes, for me it was a bit of both. In conclusion this old movie is a classic with its not so old photography and really good acting. Though it might be boring since it is about educational matters. So watch at your own discretion.

Oppenheimer is a three hour long film that was directed by Christopher Nolan. It could be considered a biopic or an historical story. The plot takes place in the USA and in Europe during the second world war. The main character is played by Cillian Murphy. This story is about the nuclear bomb, and more particularly about Robert Oppenheimer, who was the person in charge of the Manhattan project in the USA. The whole film revolves around his personal life, the bomb project and the judgement of the accusations that were made towards him that he was a spy for the Soviet Union because of his communist political opinions. The acting of the main character was very impressive, the very skilled actor made us feel the character's emotions through the screen, as well as having perfect dialogues. The filming was representative of Christopher Nolan’s talent, with techniques that helped delve deeper into the story. Moreover , the scenery of the film and the quality of the image made this a very enjoyable experience. To conclude, I strongly recommend this film for many reasons. It talks about an important subject during the second world war, the film itself is extremely well made. You do not feel the three hours fly by, as you are hooked by the story.

Hompa Wompa Wonka On Thursday I went to the 7 Batignolles Pathé cinema in Paris and watched Wonka, a 2023 Paul King film. The film "Wonka", released in 2023, is a musical prequel to the famous story of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". The film focuses on a young Willy Wonka and his adventures before opening the world's most famous chocolate factory. The plot explores Wonka's origins, his love of making and creating sweets, and the early stages of building his chocolate empire. The film also introduces new and familiar characters, while offering a fresh perspective on the world of Willy Wonka. With musical numbers and a colourful visual narrative, "Wonka" offers a deep dive into the iconic character's past, revealing how he became the legendary chocolatier known the world over. What I really loved about this film was the fact that we discovered a new vision of Wonka’s world, in addition Hugh Grant and Rowan Atkinson were playing. I love both of these actors. However, I disliked the musical effect on this film because It was overplayed and not that natural. It’s not the best film I have ever watched but it was cool and if you are a musical comedy fan you should go in with your eyes closed.

Truly a reference in terms of family friendly Christmas movies, the Grinch is a funny and very entertaining cartoon about an embittered character who dislikes the holiday because of a bad childhood experience. Not being able to bear seeing the Whos (the inhabitants of whoville) merry, he decides to ruin their Christmas by stealing the decorations and presents. But, throughout the movie, he meets a little girl who helps him rediscover the joy surrounding the holiday. Despite the Grinch’s rudeness, he definitely becomes an endearing character that the viewer wants to see become happy. This is what I really loved about the movie : every character becomes dear to the viewer, but there is still a plot to the cartoon. Moreover, it is quite funny to watch, with lots of cute and amusing scenes. The set creates a very cosy environment, making it very easy to not see the hour and half go by. The film is probably as children-friendly as Christmas movies can get, and very enjoyable even for the younger ones. Therefore, I really don’t see anything that could’ve been done better and definitely recommend this movie to everyone, young or not, with family and or friends or not.

Home Alone is a film published on the 19th December 1990 in Belgium and on the 5th October 1999 in the USA. It is a comedy film directed by Chris Columbus, it is also a “classic” for movie-lovers. It narrated the story of Kevin McCallister who overslept and missed the plane he should have taken with his parents. During their vacation, Kevin will try to defend his home from the robbers with a multitude of traps. I really loved the traps Kevin created because they are very childish which makes it funny to see the robbers fall in those traps. Furthermore, it is a light-hearted comedy, a good choice for Christmas because you don’t have to think a lot and you can enjoy the film. I also like the theme because it’s a very reasonable child's dream to be left alone and do whatever he wants in his home without his parents. However it’s very unrealistic and when you think about it you may feel that Kevin was purposely not woken up by his parents which is not a very good lesson from the film. I would still recommend this film as it is a very good comedy and suitable for people of all ages and it’s a good film to watch in family.

An emotional and sensational entertainment This micro-series is the story of two young adults, one who hates Christmas and the other who is fond of it. They meet in a way never visited before, with a book, and so many mysteries. It is refreshing in these times, compared to our phones and social media. Lily is looking for love and hates to be alone during holidays, Dash is heartbroken and prefers to spend Christmas alone this year. How are they gonna transform each other’s life forever? I loved this series, which came out in 2020. I watch it over and over again in wintertime. It is a romantic story that can be frustrating for some, but also refreshing with a touch of old-school methods and modernity in some ways. For some people, it could be corny, which is comprehensible, but instead of other Christmas films or series, actors don’t speak in a stupid and corny way, they seem honest and real. However, I think that some things could have been done better. Maybe the idea of representing them in different classes of society is a bit too much. If there’s a second season, that difference could make them drift apart. That’s why I hope there won’t be another part. I hope therefore to find another series or film as good as this one, to watch with friends over and over again.

Nowadays, during Christmas time, Christmas movies are watched all over the world. It has almost become a cultural thing to do. Here, Love Actually is one of the most watched romance movies by millions of people. Love Actually is a movie directed by Richard Curtis which talks about love as it is presented in the title. In this movie there isn’t one single lead character but ten. But, it specialises more in eight of them. In this story, we see how each relationship evolves differently and how they face their issues with their love life. I really enjoyed watching very different people dealing with both their love live and work life. We have the chance of seeing multiple people, from every age group and with different lifestyles. I really loved the soundtrack of the movie, it was perfect. I really loved the movie though sometimes the acting wasn’t very convincing. But overall, the movie was amazing. I would really recommend this movie because it really is a must-see, as I said in the title it is a classic that you should at least see once in your life. Even though it’s not the movie that will really teach you many things culturally, you can watch it when you feel sad, lonely, whenever you want and you’ll feel great after watching it.
