Anyone expecting a Roland Emmerich Independence Day type, in yer face wham bang full on action fest, you’ll be disappointed. However, if your looking from something that takes its DNA from M. Night Shyamalan‘s Signs and Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival with bit more in the originality stakes then you’ll be waiting for every weekly episode with anticipation. Personally found this refreshing and thought provoking spanning three continents, with a cast who ably deliver a believable and well scripted storyline. Maybe it my age, as I’ve seen countless Alien invades earth type movies, with millions spent on GCI with average acting and always the same linear plot and outcome. I hope Apple ignore the nay sayers and commission a second season

A refreshing approach to the WW2 movie genre that focuses on a campaign not touched by Hollywood, focussing on the liberation of the wetlands of SW Holland. So don’t expect the battle scenes to involve GIs or the US Airborne. The film explores the convergence of three key characters; two Dutch ( one a Wehrmacht volunteer, the other a Dutch resistance member) and an English Para towards a brutal and unforgettable climax at the Battle of Scheldt in 1944 and it’s aftermath. The film is slow in parts but this links well to the enduring combat sciences which are bloody and brilliantly choreographed. A recommended watch.

Edge of the seat stuff from Tom Hanks and Stephen Graham. Just watched it this evening and despite the lack of big screen exposure, still found it absorbing with great battle scenes. Edge of the seat stuff. One minor gripe is that we don’t see anything from the German perspective, rather like Dunkirk. But then again on the original and brilliant Das Boot the Alllies never show their true faces
