Season 2 is a very pleasant surprise and a huge step forward from Season 1 overall, from the story-telling and direction to the pacing. Very under-rated anime series that tells its morals AND subverts our favourite (or most notorious) mythological / urban legend characters in a heartfelt, often unexpected and gorgeously presented way. Those of us who are familiar with Bleach and Naruto will not complain about the pacing. This season is practically all battle-related sequences. And yes, the backstories don't just do characterisation, they also explain decisions made in subsequent or preceding battle seqences. Only reason for the missing star -- this is a single-track story focused almost solely on one-on-one combat... so far. The mystery surrounding our favourite green-eyed Valkrie's motivations to help the human race rose momentarily but was quickly resolved... for now. Could there be more twists and turns to come? Oh and where is Season 3? ♡( •ॢ◡-ॢ)✧˖° ♡
