Yesterday seems to be getting some tough talk from the critics. You don't put out a movie in July to win an Oscar, people want something light and fun and this delivers beautifully with a side heaping of sweetness. Expect it to be clever with Danny Boyle at the helm, he knows how to pace a story. No one is asking you to believe the "how" of this story...just go for the ride. The fun British bantering, much like Shawn of the Dead is deadpan and hillarious. My favorite scene was probably getting zero respect from his loving parents, even with some of the greatest music ever written.
Maybe the haters are from a different generation. This is a solid hit with anyone born before 1970.
