I have only just completed reading the first chapter and I can only say that this is the first time in a long time that a non fiction book has kept my attention span this long into the read. It’s beautifully written and I absolutely enjoy the narration. It’s simple to read through and has a profound sense of honesty, openness and deep insight into her life. She truly was an amazing person. As a millennial, her music and life story was not something that I surrounded myself with until I stumbled across this memoir. I’m pretty sure I’m not putting down this book until I reach the end. Very articulate and inspiring read of strength, grace, elegance and rawness. I’m loving it so far.
It took me a week to read through till the end. I found the last chapter challenging to read through because my brother had suffered similar medical conditions.
I found her drive and vigor for life and her mantra to keep pushing through despite life’s curveballs inspirational and encouraging. Her dedication and passion for music and life made me envy her very positive attitude - it reflects very heavily through the read.
I recommend everyone to read this book, especially young women, young and old. Her story makes me believe that it truly is never too late to start or try anything!
