1947 Earth Review
The Movie, because of its unglorified and realistic portrayal, stands out from all those bollywood works of those time
Movie tries to depict the horrors of Partition that made country stand stunned for about a decade, Deepa as a director has always tried bringing stories onto screen with much accuracy where this time she chose to follow the novel called Ice Candy Man written by Bapsi and she made it to the best of it with perfect casting
Nanditha as Shanta (maid), Aamir as Dil Nawaz (Ice candy man ), Rahul Khanna as Hassan and even the child Lenni Played by Maia does fit into their role like they were written for them ever since,
Story begins with a light note but brings about intense touch with time, Movie takes in slowly yet strongly, excellent background score by A R Rahman does magic again, Ruth aa gayi re and Dheemi dheemi stays in heart with romantic touch where the rest like Raat ki daldal, Ishwar alla tere, Ye jo zindagi hai ( 2 versions) fits into the story and compliments the screenplay to a great extent.
My favourite being Ye jo zindagi hai shot unusually on a romantic scene carries a great impact in the story with its second version later in the movie
The theme music and the piano piece are the highlight of the horrors,
Totally movie is worth watching and it indeed keeps its promise of the tag besides it's title and makes one witness history with no dramatic elements
My rating : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5
