I've been a big Eric Roberts fan since he played Paul Schneider in Star 80. What a really nice character that was. Then his role in The Pope of Greenwich Village opposite Mickey Rourke, just outstanding. So I just had to see his latest turn in Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs, and he does not disappoint. Eric has not lost his acting chops, that's for sure. Watching him ride off on his horse in the friscalating dusklight was something else. Truly awe inspiring. Of course, as others have pointed out, the CGI was not the greatest, but it was at least as good as that James Bond movie Pierce Brosnan did a couple decades ago, which I am sure had a much, much larger budget. The director of this flick, Ari Novak, told me over dinner one night that he got the idea for this movie while flying back from South America, when he looked out the plane window down at the mountains. A true eureka moment of which even Archimedes could be proud! It won't win any Oscars, but it is entertaining fare and fun for the entire family. And hey, when there is a pandemic going on and you're looking for an hour and half or so of mindless entertainment, you cannot go wrong by watching Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs!
