I went to see the FNAF movie with my boyfriend after watching countless trailers and sneak previews online. Not only did the movie exceed every expectation I had but it truly made a huge difference in my life as a long time Five Nights at Freddy’s fan. This movie became one of my favorites in a single night, if not my all time favorite due to how well the acting, character development, and death scenes were (not to mention the infamous song in the credits!)
The way every character interacts with each other truly showed tension and how the death of the five children affected everyone, including the children themselves. While the beginning was a little slow, the build up made the rest of the movie an utterly horrifying watch. Josh Hutcherson’s and Matthew Lilliard’s performances were spot on for their respective roles. The plot twist was very shocking, too.
Accordingly, I thoroughly enjoyed how they portrayed the children inside the animatronics. They are kids and they aren’t going to always act like the monsters the books and games portray them to be, except when they’re being controlled by Afton. The innocent scenes they are included in where they get to act like kids provides depth for the animatronics that we know and love. Their designs were incredibly accurate to how they look in the games and I enjoyed spotting all the references to other animatronics from the books.
Overall, this movie was phenomenal. I recommend it for any long time FNAF fan or someone who just joined the FNAF fandom who enjoys learning about everything the games and books have to offer.
