I don't like war novels or period pieces but this novel was so well written that the story captivated me. The characters are so unique and their development is stunning. The way all the players together at the climax is beautiful and unexpected. And the mystery at the center remains just that. Is it a coincidence? Is it a curse? The answer is unknowable.
