The first 3 books were great! This book however, was okay. The transition to Eden’s story was “meh” at best. The writing seemed sloppy and felt like a push for another book just because. This book felt less guided. A big complaint of mine was the overuse of many words. Particularly the obscure amount of times Daniel (Day) used the word “Gody”. It also wasn’t fitting to Day’s character to overuse a word that much, he has a higher intelligence which should enable him to have a larger vocabulary. It’s as if Marie Lu had recently discovered that word and had to get it out of her system, every time I heard I genuinely wanted to close the book and start something else, I didn’t because I was dedicated to finished the series no matter how painful it was. One other complaint I had with the story was the amount of time surrounding drone racing, it wasn’t all that exciting compared to the brink of war build up in the first three books. Finally, but not my final complaint, was the making of Eden’s friend Pressa. It felt awfully to close to Tess and just felt like lazy character building.
