This is an AWFUL show. Actually, awful might be too kind of a review. Do not watch it. First and foremost, the host is atrocious. Despite the awful writing, he is rude and inappropriate. During one of the episodes he criticized the contestants for being last ("no one is surprised they are last."). I would like to see him try to do anything that complicated in such a short amount of time. I additionally thought it was poor taste for him to continuously ask the contestants, in his condescending manner, if the amount of time left was enough for them to finish. Again, you step up and try it. He could use some manners. The producers would be wise to recast. If I was contestant on that show, and he said something like to that me...oooh. Nope.
In addition to how awful the host is...did you get that I could not stand him?...the wastefulness of this show is embarrassing for the producers. In each round the contestants are judged after they are told to continue onto the next challenge. During that time they start baking, aka using resources. The judges then announce their decision and the losers have to stop and leave the floor/abandon their confections. I sincerely hope that the producers are doing something with these resources and not just pitching them. Even if they are doing that, it is obviously behind the scenes. The viewers still only see that they are being wasteful. Not a good example. It is also just a poor layout for the show. It makes it feel disconnected and the viewer loses interest.
UPDATE:
I'm told in the 2nd season the producers modified the show so that they are not eliminating while they are cooking, thus reducing waste. 👍🏻
DON'T watch this show. If you don't care about the wastefulness it promotes, the bad writing, then at least trust me on the host. He would do well at working at one of those coffee shops where only millennials serve you. Or don't serve you. But just sit there and judge you like it's your job to make your coffee yourself. And then give you dirty looks when you expect them to do their job. He would be employee of the month, guaranteed.
