Zorba the Greek is about freedom and the Greek way.. it's about challenging ( not necessarily changing them) all customs and so called norms of society .

It's a great portrayal of life in Pontos (now Turkey) the way the Greek Pontians were treated well by some Turks and terrible once Nationalism of the Turks came in. Great how very Hellenic the Pontians really are . Reminds me of how Greek or rather how Hellenic I am. Then they went to Greece and were treated terribly by the Greeks just like the Greeks from Constantinople were treated by the so called Greeks . Are you Hellenes ?
