My son and I have watched both the Australian and American versions. We think the Australians are superior builders overall. And for someone from New Zealand/Aotearoa that's hard to say! We loathe the hosts on both shows. They are pathetic. Nor did we like the use of celebrities on the USA version. Americans are celebrity obsessed. We'd like the lego masters to have a segment each week on techniques to improve builds rather than waste time on all the joking around by the hosts which is frankly puerile and can be distracting to the contestants. Also, instead of eliminating a pair (and reducing the number of contestants) why not go for a weekly points score with weekly prizes like a lego set. There could be bonus points awarded for twists or creativity or bonus time. If you want a dramatic winner take all finale you could include a bonus time element - each contestant has a base time plus extra time based on your score. In the present second Australian series, one contestant went home sick this week and the sole contestant had to complete the task alone. This was clearly unfair. There was a young man (Geordie) from the previous series on call. Why wasn't he brought in to help? Lego Masters were clearly thrown - "we've never had this before" they bleated. Really? They should've had a contingency plan. Overall, we enjoy the show and are amazed at the creativity and complexity of the builds and the STAMINA of the contestants who have to focus for many hours.
