I just don’t understand why they would charge the same amount of money for games like this as they do for games that are actually well executed, endearing and creative. This game is the same stuff we’ve been seeing for years, placed in a new but totally mediocre package. There are absolutely no advancements or highlights. Nothing worth mentioning graphically, narratively, or gameplay wise. It’s just a game, nothing special or compelling, nothing that makes it more fun than any other like it, unless you’re particularly into zombie and/or motorcycle club stories, or you fall into that narrow tribal tattoo demographic.
There’s nothing wrong with doing what works, just don’t charge me top dollar when there’s other titles on the shelf that deliver wayyy more value. There’s other people making games that achieve astonishing advancement in several categories. They find creative ways to offer unprecedented immersion, top tier design, and stories and direction that rival great cinema. Why are those works attached to the same slate as the ones that just go through the motions?
When you go to the grocery store you’ll usually find the generic store brand product right next to the household name product. It’s there, but they have to make it a dollar cheaper because they know everyone wants the name brand. Why can’t the game industry just adopt this business principle for a change and stop branding and pricing bargain titles like they are elite? “Days Gone” is a straight to TV daytime movie that they coerce you into paying IMAX 3D theatre ticket prices for. It makes no sense and it’s silly. I mean if “Red Dead Redemption 2” cost $59.99 than “Days Gone” can’t be worth more than $30.
