Having enjoyed her other books, I was disappointed by the lack of depth of the characters and plot lines in this novel. The writing provides a fast paced story, with the period set in Vietnam especially engaging. But the depth of the main character feels more like Miss Saigon and others were rather stereotyped/flat too. So while this is a perfectly readable light novel I found it less compelling than her other books such as the Four Winds
