Going into the theater to see Civil War with only the trailers as a template and purposely avoiding reviews & spoilers. I was definitely caught off guard of what the main storyline was and where the stage of the actual civil war campaign was. To me the pace started on the rather slow side and the character development matched that pace as well. The story and action gains some traction as the story moves along. As others have mentioned those that are seeking a "war" movie will be disappointed. This movie is more how war and associated trauma (PTSD) affects the function of human psychology when having to survive under constant duress from the affects of war. The film itself is cinimatically stunning! There are many scenes that will strike a chord of what one would never ever want to see on our homeland soil. On a personal level I would have liked a little more info provided of what actually started the Civil War and what the factions were actually fighting for or against. It seems ironic that two of the key members/founders of the western alliance are two polar opposites in today's political menagerie. Which also made me think with today's political partisan extremist landscape, most of the explanations of how Americans could turn on Americans is played out every day right before us on Social Media and the evening news...
I would definitely recommend going to see it.
