I was so excited for this movie. I read this book in high school and reread it when I heard the movie was coming out. Without the context from the novel, I feel like this movie would fall flat. Knowing the novel, I’m disappointed at how so many important issues were glossed over with an upbeat song. I love musicals, but this musical disappointed on every level. The songs were terrible and seemed to come at the most off times.
