I was left with unexplained feelings and drained emotions. It has a terrific, no, horrible ending 😢 So many things didn't feel alright. secrets, so many untold stories. That horrible smell that comes from that chimney! He asked several times and the mother too but the commandant had everything under control as he seemed. I'm too broken to write further. Someday I will. I appreciate John Boyne for putting this piece out . Is there a continuation somehow ?
