Sometimes cringy and unrealistic and I won't start on the bad Indian representation, but overall I liked the first season. From the ending, I thought the main character Devi was going mature a bit.
However, in second season Devi is more selfish, manipulative, and impulsive than ever. Still going to therapy, had already resolved some trauma, but no character development and nothing gets truly resolved such as her conflict with her Indian identity. I know the premise is "chaotic teen haha funny" but she is basically a villain to herself and people in her life. It's relatable when she's rebellious, stubborn and clumsy, etc but not when she's straight up toxic. It got hard to keep watching her never learn from her mistakes and get easily forgiven for messed up things.
Meanwhile, many side characters have development arcs. Kamala stands up for herself, Ben gets along with others, Paxton works hard in school. Devi throughout the whole series is just blinded by her desire to be "cool" which to her involves sex, alcohol, partying, and rebellion. Two entire seasons of that?
