I don't think you should take the kids to see this one. That being said, it's the funniest comedy I have ever seen! It's absurdly, obscenely, laugh-out-loud funny. If you are a parent, get a nanny and make this one a date night. Better still, see it with a whole bunch of friends. You can all compare which obscene lines made you laugh the most afterwards!

Other critics say Baz Luhrmann is "bombastic." I can see what they mean. ELVIS has a certain amount of unnecessary content that belongs in a 40s film and not here. Some of the "headlines" should have been conversations, like "Guess you ARE a millionaire now," from a friend or relative upon his arrival at Graceland instead of the mock headline "MILLIONAIRE." But the performances are great, particularly the star and Tom Hanks, who delivers a Best Supporting Actor worthy turn as Colonel Tom Parker. Worth seeing, but expect a LOT of drama.
