Slow burn but very engaging. The performances draw you and won't let go. Benedict Cumberbatch was unrecognizable as the hard-working, hotheaded, wrangler who disapproves of his brother's (Jesse Plemons) marriage with the single mom Kirsten Dunst and her son's unmanly mannerisms. But Cumberbatch's secret is a major contributor to frustrations and he seems to take it out on everyone, especially Dunst who, to him, seems more like someone looking to get involved with the family's wealth. When a film truly works, I don't have much to say. It works like every other great film to the point where its positive attributes would read cliche. This is probably the best film of 2021.
