It's a filler movie for the franchise, like when you watch a series and an episode is put in to move the story along but not a lot happens and you feel like you wasted your time a bit. It's like that. So yeah, just wait to stream it free somewhere, but make sure you are multitasking to do something else at the same time.

When you compare this film to Gladiator it is a damp squib of a film. The cinematography made every shot feel dull, gritty and bleak. (maybe they were going for that). It just didn't give you that visual impact. They concentrated on the relationship between Napolean and Josephine. The actress played her very cold and unemotional which made it unengaging to the viewer. Josephine's domination over him in the film made the character of Napolean a lesser person, so you didn't really feel that he was this great commander of armies. Joaquin Phoenix is an actor who plays his characters as understated, again making Napolean feel small rather than powerful. I really didn't engage with the film and left feeling a bit disappointed. Somehow what should have been an epic film was made dull. It's not a total flop but it isn't an epic film that I would want to watch again.

This is exactly what Star Trek needed. What the Mandolorian did for Star Wars, STSNW will do for Star Trek. Vibrant, gritty, humorous and back to the best of what Star Trek did. To explore new worlds and have awesome adventures. (Back to the days of what Voyager did so well). Captain Pike brings a fresh take on being the captain, exactly how I imagine a captain would be, similar to the Kirk style version of a Captain but better. Exploring the crew's personalities without being overly WOKE about it. (so far). Keeping it real in the best way.

Original, thoughtful and heart warming in an undead way. They get it (the writers /director), the best shows are about how much you care about the characters and how much they care about each other. Just look at every (successful) TV show /movie ever made.
