Staggeringly overrated. I've never seen as big a disconnect with the public perception of a movie and my opinion of it. To be clear, this is is a genre I like and enjoy, and right up my alley, but the CGI was underwhelming, the writing bad, the immersiveness of it pathetic, and the thematic symbolism is less heavy handed in children's movies. It was basic, derivative, and the only good aspects of it were Sandra Bullock's acting, and the soundtrack. I don't know in what universe this movie would warrant anything more than a 3 star rating, it is mediocre AT BEST. Super bummed out, I was quite looking forward to it.
