Astrophysics For People in a Hurry is an excellent book written by the famous astrophysicist, Neil deGrasse Tyson. With only a little over 200 pages and simplified concepts, this book is amazing for anyone interested in astronomy, physics, or both. I really enjoyed this book and it opened up my mind to all the great mysteries and wonders of the universe that we call home. The book does an amazing job at touching the concepts and then going into as much detail as a regular person can understand. Dr. Tyson also added a bit of humor to allow the readers to stay engaged in the book. The book shows us, in only a few pages, how much we have learned about the universe, and how much we still have and how much we might never be able to learn.
In this book, Dr. Tyson goes over the basics of how we came into existence and our presence in this mysterious universe, going from the big bang and how each subatomic particle came into existence to how we know dark matter and dark energy exist. The book also explains how our every day lives are structured by these mysterious forces of the universe and how every day materials like Hydrogen or Iron are essential to the formation and function of this universe. The book touches on concepts from within the solar system to the matter-antimatter particle activity going on in the intergalactic space. It talks about how our science has advanced by talking about the past scientists, beliefs and even touches on Einstein's theory of General Relativity, explaining how gravity and time behaves differently going at fast speeds and near a black hole.
Overall, I recommend this book to anyone and everyone looking for something to read to learn about our existence. It is sure to open your eyes and allow you to inquire further on this mysterious universe.
