The show has a great cast. I can only remember 3 sets were used. It is like All in the Family. No one left the living room all those years ! It was like the United Nations of characters who constantly bring up their nationalities. I take offense that they did not include an Irish New York cop. The only reference to the Irish that I recall was an insulting throw away comment. Also, women were nearly non existent. A female victim wandered in some days but, no character development was attempted. I don't find the ethnic jokes out of line because of the close relationships between the guys in the squad, although you may. This was shot in the 1970s. It may be more fun if you remember the celebrities and politicians that are referred to in the stories. Some of the story lines are current issues even today. But they don't steer away from the silly. They also address heartbreaking events in the lives of cops.
