It felt very much like the director had a list of scenes he wanted to do, and he forced the narrative to reach those scenes. Continuity was all over the place. Constant forcing of conflict because the easily logical solutions would have been anti climactic and worked too well. . The acting was ok I guess. But I just found myself laughing during scenes that were supposed to be tense. Because of how forced they were and how horribly they were written. Characters contradict themselves within 1 or 2 lines. Here’s one I remember vividly “YOU ARE JUST LIKE US, YOU BLEED LIKE US, YOU SLEEP IN DIRT, etc etc.” I’m sorry but what? Maybe leave out that dirt line if you are trying to make a point that he’s just like us. . If you are looking for a cheesy horror flick that is horribly written and directed to laugh at and make fun of. This is great. If you want an actually well made film. This is not great.

I had to turn my volume up 4x what it’s normally on to barely hear the opening dialogue at 80 volume. And then almost blew my eardrums out when the sound effects and music started. Had to turn sound down to 20. Only to immediately be followed by dialogue that I had to turn volume back up to 80 for. I cannot believe a movie with this much budget and big names did not even bother to properly mix the sound. This the worst mixed movie I’ve ever witnessed in my whole life. There’s no way I’m sitting here tweaking the volume up and down a thousand times to get through this. I could literally go watch a black and white movie from the 20s and get better sound quality. I will openly admit I did not finish it, because watching a movie should not require me to constantly switch volume that drastically.

I’m genuinely surprised this show is sitting at above a 2 rating. I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a series so much that I refused to finish it. But there’s no way I’m watching anymore of this trash. I could sit here and complain about each little terrible choice made by directors writers and producers. But I’ll just say this. The few episodes I begrudgingly powered through I couldn’t stop wondering who the heck this show is even for? Who is the target audience? Because this feels like a big middle finger to the people who actually play and have supported Ark as a game for years. And if it’s not made for the people who actually played and enjoyed the games, then why are they using the games IP?
