WARNING: SPOILERS
English isn’t my first language + negative upon negative emotions.
The disappointment that I feel after watching this movie can’t be matched with the disappointment that this “thriller” turned out to be. Sure I loved the actors and the incredible voice of Lady Gaga, but after listening to her sing literally non stop gets on one nerves, especially when you are trying to focus on the story and not some love songs about getting married ect. The part that had me pulling out my hair is when the viewer, we the audience, were supposed to have an emotional connection with the Main Character. This moment serves so that the viewer can get into his position! Feel his emotions, rage, sadness and anger. To open the viewers eyes and “explain” why Arthur is the way he is. But nope, they just got to put a musical moment into this important piece of a character story that we got! These musical elements of this whole movie were completely unnecessary and just not fitting to the tragic and sad story of Joker, story that contains pain, suffering, trauma, betrayal, abuse and so much more. This second movie really feels like a JOKE compared to the first movie. The first movie gives me the impression that Arthur embraced the whole role of Joker, he has accepted it and despite his past moved on and remained strong, ready to lead, ready to show the world what he can do, to show off his influence and power. Because he was being and still seen as someone who others look up to! But no! In the second movie they took it away! They made him weak and vulnerable to the point that it’s almost pathetic and painful to watch! Let’s be honest the whole movie was the complete opposite of what I was expecting. Instead of giving him the power of a Villain that he deserves, he was put into a prison, bullied, made fun of again, got an useless love interest that wasn’t necessary and died and stupid death that such a great character didn’t deserve! The fact that he got KILLED IN THE PRISON pissed me off and KILLED by a lunatic nonetheless! It’s just funny at this point! At the end, where he got away from the court, I finally thought that he would finally become great and be a significant figure that would cause an overthrow of the whole city! Instead, his love interest left him and he got sad and in the very end…. KILLED! The fact that we were given so little time to process this made me feel completely confused and emotionally drained! The end was too rushed! It wasn’t supposed to end that way! In my view, the completely ruined the whole image and the way we look at Joker. It feels like the whole movies is throughly a whole Joke. It doesn’t feel the same as watching the first Joker. Surly if you love Lady Gagas voice you can watch the movie and completely don’t care about it’s characters, but I do care and the fact that they took THE JOKER and left his to die in a dirty prison because of a lunatic/ psychopath, instead of giving him something greater, grander and better! I simply can’t accept the facts, so excuse me for my blunt words but I simply needed to let out all of the negative emotions I have experienced while watching this movie. I hope at least someone “enjoyed” it.
