I'm soon to be 60. Everyone my age or older is familiar with the longstanding PM series. I was intrigued with the promos for HBO's take on Perry Mason... and was curious about what they would put forth. It's HBO... so there will be a litany of swearing and sexual antics to titillate those who cannot fathom a night of entertainment without them. However. After 5 episodes... I can say that I'm excited to see what will happen next. I want to see how the "gang" that we all loved in the TV series will be formulated? I want to see the bad guys go down. WE NEED to see the bad guys go down. I appreciate coming at this from a "back-story" perspective... the chord that is being struck about California's Spanish roots and it's long history of immigrant "slavery' (Perry's truck ride to visit his son). I like the disillusioned veteran angle. I would like to know more about why the farm died... and I'll tolerate the insistence that Della is gay or Bi or whatever. But the one thing you better not muck up is this: Perry Mason always wins.
